The prime example of what happened to whistle-blowers in The Shawshank Redemption was demonstrated when young Tommy gets shot after the Warden confronts him on his knowledge of the truth to Andy’s case. Tommy not realizing that he was moments from his own death for trying to do the right thing and by helping out a friend, Andy. The Warden wanted nothing to do with any whistle-blower who was going to jeopardize his corrupt ways on being rich.
